I'm not sure where this information belongs on this wiki. But it probably has a place. Maybe a new section on Casual Game Technology?

Until very recently, creating casual games was limited to those with considerable software engineering skills, i.e. Flash, ActionScript, c++, PHP, and Java.

In January, 2008, DigitalBrix, a new company in Nashua, NH, launched an open beta of their portal www.Gamebrix.com where most anyone can now create and share animations and casual games. Three levels will eventually be available: EXPRESS where even someone as young as 7 or 8 can create casual games. A BUILDER level that something of a learning curve, but skills easily acquired by 10 -12 year olds viewing Gamebrix tutorial videos available on YouTube. The PRO level will eventually accommodate serious developers who do write software and want to add functionality to the provided base.

Gamebrix is a free service during the open beta period and will likely move to a modest subcription basis in the spring of 2008.
