A platform is the system or type of system on which a game runs. For example, the PC and Mac are the most common platforms for natively-run computer games. The web/web browser can also be considered a platform, as can "console" game systems such as the Sony PlayStation 2, Microsoft XBox 360, and Nintendo Wii.
