Luxor is an action-oriented puzzle game developed by MumboJumbo and published by GameHouse. In Luxor, players shoot and destroy "magical spheres" before they reach the pyramids at the end of their path.

Description

Luxor is set across the lands of ancient Egypt where the goddess Isis has enlisted players to battle Set and his evil minions. The primary game play involves eliminating colored "magical spheres" by shooting additional spheres from a winged scarab that moves horizontally along the bottom of the screen. When three or more spheres of the same color collide, the spheres are eliminated. If adjacent spheres now form a segment with three or more of the same color, they also explode in a chain reaction.

During game play, the chain of spheres continuously advance forward along a path, pushed by small scarabs. If any sphere reaches the player's pyramid, he or she loses a life and must restart the level. If the player succeeds in eliminating a certain number of spheres without this occurring, new spheres cease to arrive and the level can be completed by removing those which remain.

There are 88 levels in Luxor. In each level, players may earn power-ups such as Fireballs, Lightning Bolts or Multi-Color Spheres that aid game play. Extra lives are earned by collecting golden coins.

Background & History

Luxor was first released as a free online and premium downloadable for PCs. It is the first title in the Luxor series of casual games.

Luxor was extended to mobile phones through RealArcade. In November 2006, a version of Luxor titled Luxor: Wrath of Set was released for the Sony PSP.[1]

Tips & Tricks

  • Don't stay idle, always work on removing spheres from the chains.
  • Try to make bigger combos wherever possible.
  • A right click on the mouse allows you to switch colored spheres.
  • Watch for power-ups and be sure to catch them with your scarab. Power-ups will help you beat the harder levels. Use them where they'll remove the most spheres.
