Description
Early titles in the Collapse! series of puzzle games combined the popular "match three" game mechanic with elements of Tetris. In the traditional or classic mode of Collapse!, the player's goal is to remove colored blocks in groupings of three or more by clicking on them, thus scoring points and advancing through more challenging levels. Later iterations added new modes of play including:
- Puzzle (Super Collapse! II, Super Collapse! 3, Super Collapse! Puzzle Gallery) - Advance through levels be clearing every block in a prearranged pattern.
- Relapse (Super Collapse! II, Super Collapse! 3) - Blocks are added from the top and bottom of the screen so players must work quickly to stay in the game.
- Strategy (Super Collapse! II, Super Collapse! 3) - Players must think ahead when removing a grouping of blocks as a new row is added to the bottom of the screen with each click.
- Slider (Super Collapse! 3) - Rows of blocks slide back and forth during game play
- Continuous (Super Collapse! 3) - An endless version of the Classic mode
- Countdown (Super Collapse! 3) - Try for the highest score in a 2-minute game
- Crunch (Collapse! Crunch) - Blocks race in from all sides toward the center. Whatever you do, don't let the blocks touch the mine in the middle.
- Big (Collapse! Crunch) - Just like the original Collapse!, but with a larger grid of blocks.
- ZigZag (Collapse! Crunch) - Staggered blocks rise from the bottom every time you make a move.
- Perplexor (Collapse! Crunch) - Detonate every block on the screen, but only the bottom few rows are clickable and you lose if any blocks remain.
